Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Baraktuhu,

A RTD Security Guard was shot on Tuesday in Denver while on duty. Based on the media reports, it seems the suspect was radicalized and was reported to law enforcement by local Muslim leadership.

Denver mosque leaders feared RTD shooting suspect had radicalized, reported him to Homeland Security

Islam teaches us to console and comfort those who have been hurt. So, ICNA Relief is starting a drive to raise funds for the victim’s family.

You may donate online using the link below or give your donations to ICNA representatives for this drive.

Your donations will, Insha Allah, provide help to the grieving family.

The Denver Islamic Society administration and the greater Muslim community of Colorado are sickened by the news of killing an innocent guard by someone who was found with what law enforcement sources describe as Muslim documents in downtown Denver (http://denver.cbslocal.com/2017/02/01/rtd-shooting-suspect-found-with-muslim-documents/) yesterday.

We hope the Colorado community knows that true Muslims abhor such acts of violence and senseless murders.  The religion of Islam teaches the importance and sacredness of human life in the Quran.  Killing an innocent life is equal to killing the entire humanity unjustly in the eyes of Allah, which will entail appropriate punishment (Quran, 5:32).  Whoever denies this commandment may not call themselves a Muslim and/or speak on behalf of Muslims and Islam.

Our heart goes out to the family of the slain security guard and we offer our sincerest condolences.
